From Entry to Checkout: How Ticketmelon Built a Fully Cashless Event Ecosystem for KL Tiger Fest

The Ask
Held over Merdeka weekend at Bukit Kiara Equestrian Club, Kuala Lumpur, KL Tigers Fest was designed to be more than a sporting tournament. The event brought together a large-scale festival experience with multiple attendee touchpoints across the grounds, from tournament programming to live entertainment, F&B vendors, family-friendly zones, community activities, and a pop-up marketplace.

‍With ticketing, entry management, vendor sales, and onsite purchases happening across different areas of the festival, the organisers needed an infrastructure that could support high transaction loads during peak periods while keeping the attendee experience smooth and efficient.

Beyond access control, the goal was to create a faster cashless onsite experience for guests while giving organisers and vendors clearer visibility over sales performance, payment tracking, and operational flow in real time.

Service Provided
Ticketmelon supported KL Tiger Fest through a large-scale ticketing and cashless transaction ecosystem:

  1. 100% Cashless Ecosystem
KL Tiger Fest became the first sporting festival in Malaysia to implement a fully cashless payment ecosystem, allowing attendees to make onsite purchases quickly and conveniently. With significant onsite transaction volumes processed across the festival, vendors were able to serve guests faster across food, beverage, and merchandise booths, reducing queue times and increasing transaction throughput during peak hours.
  2. Vendor & Sales Enablement
Organisers and vendors were able to track payments and reconcile sales through a centralised system, giving them clearer visibility over onsite revenue. With faster payment processing, vendors could complete a higher volume of orders within limited event hours, helping organisers capture more sales opportunities throughout the festival.
  3. On-Ground Event Operations
Guests were able to enter the festival smoothly through QR code scanning, supporting a more efficient access flow at entry points. Onsite support teams were also present to assist with troubleshooting and operational execution, while real-time reporting gave organisers visibility over ticketing and sales performance during the event.

The Results

Through Ticketmelon’s ticketing infrastructure and cashless payment ecosystem, KL Tiger Fest was able to improve the customer experience while increasing onsite sales volume and operational efficiency. Faster transactions helped reduce waiting times for attendees, while organisers and vendors benefited from stronger sales performance, smoother reconciliation, and clearer real-time visibility across the event.

Key Takeaways

For large-scale sporting festivals, ticketing infrastructure is only one part of the attendee journey. By combining access control, cashless payments, vendor enablement, and real-time reporting, Ticketmelon helps organisers create faster, more efficient event environments while unlocking stronger revenue opportunities onsite.
